The Sierra was a good rally car on paper, particularly on asphalt but it was not reliable enough and a lack of 4wd for gravel rallies left it hampered and also up against the all-conquering Lancia Deltas. It gained only 1 international win on the Tour de Corse rally in 1988 but came close on several other occassions. It had many sponsors during its rally career.
This Ford Sierra came 3rd place overall in the 1991 Rally Monte Carlo driven by Francois Delacour and co driver Anne - Chantal Pauwels.
Diecast by IXO, I got this lose without base and has its visor sticker torn.
Nice car JDMike....
ReplyDeleteIs IXO manufacturing model cars on different scales? (e.g. 1/24, 1/32 etc.)

Thanks Erwin! I love old fords too! They are like the Lancer evolutions to me in old skul mode. :-)
ReplyDeleteAbout your question, the wheel up front has What yo call wheel disc protectors that sheild the brakes from gravel that penetrates the brakes and destroys it. They are also seen in some Lancia Deltas and in some Gt or Le Mans cars too.
thanks daniel! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think you can still see some on ebay or some specialty hobby shops.
