BBurago 1:18 Mercedes Benz 500K

The Mercedes-Benz 500K was produced from 1934 through 1935 and of the 354 vehicles produced, only 229 were the cabriolets. Today, only eleven 500K Cabriolets are known to exist.

It has a top speed of about 100 mph and is powered by a 160 horsepower, inline 8 cylinder, supercharged engine coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission. The 5,130 pound vehicle rides on a four-wheel independent coil-spring suspension and is stopped via hydraulic power brakes.

This was one of my first 1:18 diecast models that dated around 1994, its by BBurago and the details are exceptional for its time. Took some pictures after cleaning the car. Here are some pictures I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did.

  2. Thanks Tom!

I dont have too many classic cars, i think i only have around 4 old benz and a few old supercars from the old Bburago age in the 90's, i will take pis of them when i clean each one.

before, i used to collect 1:18's but due to space constraints, i am inclined to shift to smaller scales like 1:64 and 1:43s except of course if theirs a new lancer evo around hehe!

  4. if i were to choose a scale, i would choose 1:43 because it has all the cars that where never released in the other scales, but it is a burden in my pocket hehe, so i concentrate on mitsubishi lancers only. :)

  5. Yes, totally agree with you! 1:18 is too expensive, 1:64 is too small for detail. 1:43 is quite enough detail and cost for collect. It's my target. But 1:43 is rare in Vietnam. :(

  6. I've looked through your diecast collection and it looks amazing. Really love your detailed work (the rally cars especially :) ). This Mercedes reminded me of a 1/24 yellow Bugatti really similar to your car.

Anyways... I gave it to my son and it got broken real quick. I mean I did it as well when I was a kid but it could still drive when I gave it to him.

I never photographed it because I was too sad :D. But if you are ready to see some destroyed (broken by the joy of a child) 1:24 toy cars check one of my articles out, BUT BE WARNED, violent content is there: 1:24 diecast cars
