My Lancer Evo X custom was the first evo X that I customized, I couldn't find the pictures in my vast collection of Photobucket accounts hehe! But now that I found them, I would like to show you a simple process of how this evolution evolved...
first is to drill the rivets underneath and then cutting away the lower front half of the grill to make way for a bigger intercooler.

the next part is cutting away the rear spoiler so I could replaced it with an adjustable type GT wing. Be carefull not to hit the tailight with your cutting tool!
resizing and fitting the intercooler that I got from a Muscle Machine NSX..
stripping the paint would be next in the agenda...
after the excess paint is removed, go back to the rear part of the car to file out the remaining excess metal protruding where the rear spoiler used to be.
at this time, you will notice the line groove of the back compartment door isn't noticable because its where the spoiler was placed, you then have to regroove the line with any sharp metal object in this case, I used a pin as shown below...
after everythings been smoothened out, time to coat it with an acrylic epoxy primer
and let it hardened for a day...
next, let's leave the car for a moment and do the other parts...
the donor wheels came from a Maisto Chevy Monte Carlo, it has that nice tuner type wheel with excellent rubber tire threads.
this set of wheels also includes brake rotors but lacks the brake calipers, so I decided to make a few for added realism...
I just used a red hard board for the calipers, and then changed the axle rods (making them longer) and painted the wheels to matt black as seen below...
Next, I applied yellow acrylic paint(2 coats) and another 2 coats of clear coat to protect the finish.
leaving the paint to dry for a few days, I fabricated some more parts to be used.
I got a donor rear spoiler from a Lamborghini Murcielago GTR but it was to long for the evo's back so I have to shorten the wing a bit...

remember those old floppy disk you are hidding?
You can use them to fabricate a lot of things...
its done and just needed black paint...
I also used this floppy disk plastic to fabricate the front chin for the evo, I made a pattern first to fit it to the evo and made some adjustments before a traced it and cut it on the plastic...
detail painting on the body begins...
and here it is...
presenting my Tomica Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
together with my other Tomy Evo which has had a wheel replacement also...
Fantastic mod there! Well done. Although my personal preference would be for chrome rims and red paint.

ReplyDeleteexcellent piece of modding, i can see you have an eye for the details. i have one question, what paint do you use and where can you buy the acrylic epoxy primer, paints and clear coats?
